Beans The Birthday Dog
My granddaughter named her lab puppy “Beans The Birthday Dog”. Not “Ranger” nor “Blue”, “Buddy”, “Max” or “Spot”… apparently “Wrangler” didn’t cross her mind nor “Fido”. I was told the abbreviated “Beans” was not acceptable… it’s Beans The Birthday Dog. And it fits perfectly.
I of all people should now the importance of a name.– Craig McConnell

Jon,
Aye, tis a name to be proud of... I'll have to tell the story of changing my name for those who may not "get it". Thank you for the links. I was aware of them. - Craig McConnell

Craig,
Cute story! What joy children bring to our lives. Who is going to call the dog in when it gets loose? I can imagine being in a park, the dog is running wild, you are calling "Beans the Birthday Dog," and the people in park snickering.

Ricker,
Snickering I can handle... it'll be the time I'm at a park and throw the ball for Beans to retrieve and it rolls into the parking lot among a circle of some hard core bikers... I step into the ring to get my dog... who is now being petted by a Hulk Hogan in leathers and he says, "Cool dog man, what's his name?" - Craig

Beans the Birthday Dog McConnell... it's snappy and bubbly... and will guarantee Beans the Birthday Dog a celebratory greeting amongst strangers... because who is to know it's not Bean's OWN birthday. And is it not more than just a coincidence that Beans the Birthday Dog came replete with his Birthday Suit, and that he insists on wearing it every day??!!!
We have dogs trained to assist the blind, and even yesterday I learned that there are dogs trained to warn folks of impending seizures... like our Kaitlin...
So now we have Beans the Birthday Dog, celebrator extrordinaire... whom no party is complete without, and no cake is safe from.
May Beans the Birthday Dof live up to his name, and may he celebrate many of his own.
And may all who meet him be reminded of and invited into the heart of celebration.
