Hearts Alive & Free

 


Hearts Alive & Free is a mission shared by a fellowship of men whose lives have been deeply impacted by the work and message of Jesus, as expressed particularly in the book Wild at Heart. The men leading this mission have attended Wild at Heart Boot Camps and advanced leadership training in Colorado. All of the men involved have the desire and call to bring this message and experience to men in the Great Lakes region.

 

They offer an annual weekend event, the next of which is September 29 - October 2, 2011.  Their Hearts Alive & Free Weekend is a time for you to get away from the craziness of life so you can rediscover what God intended when He created you as a man in His image (Genesis 1:27).

 

The Weekend is a four-day quest into the recovery of your masculine heart based on the book Wild at Heart. This is not a typical men’s event. Through transparent stories of other men, teaching sessions, films, adventure activities, and guided periods of reflection, You will journey together on a daring expedition to get your masculine heart back—a heart alive and free (Psalm 119: 32; John 10:10; Galatians 5:1).

 

The adventure begins on Thursday afternoon and concludes at about noon on Sunday. The setting is Timber Wolf Lake, an 800+ acre Young Life Camp located in the northern part of Michigan’s lower peninsula.  They would love to have you join them!

Wildmen Ministry

Wildmen started in 2003 with eight men who got together to attend a “40 Days of Purpose” small group.

Designed to promote discipleship, fellowship, worship, ministry and outreach, Wildmen provides a safe place where men can come and be men as they grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

They offer various events throughout the year, as well as Wildmen Boot Camp, which is a 66 hour quest into the recovery of the masculine soul, a guided mission into the revolution and release of your heart and life.

This Boot Camp is not Sunday School! We are at War!

Men are led through multimedia and interactive sessions centered on God’s word and the biblically based concepts from the best-selling book, “Wild at Heart” by author John Eldredge. Through teaching sessions that go deep into the message of freedom in Christ, guided times of personal reflection, and optional adventures, Boot Camp is more than a retreat – it is an expedition of the heart.

Go The Distance Ministries

The mission of Go The Distance Ministries is to help men:

o Recover their PASSION
o Find and live their PURPOSE
o Restore their Hearts to live in FREEDOM

To empower men to discover the true Fathering heart of God and to help men live life from their heart.

They believe this is best done by helping men with their own walk with God, which helps him as he perseveres through life’s challenges and hardships. Go the Distance Ministries does this through focused men’s retreat weekends and outdoor adventure trips, all based on intentional teaching and guidance on masculine maturity.  They believe in teaching fathers how to give their son a rite of passage into a true and healthy manhood. In addition, they also offer small groups and one-on-one mentoring based on the Life of the Heart.

Their mission is discipleship at a pure level. As they teach men and fathers to walk with God in all aspects and relationships of their lives, and teach them to lead their children to walk with God, it is fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus within their own families. (see Matthew 28:19)

The Warrior's Path

The Warrior's Path was created as a source of teaching, encouragement, and fellowship for a new generation of Christ-followers who desire to live life from the strength of their adoption as sons and daughters of the King, experiencing the "full" Christian life, and becoming God's Mighty Men and Women in the ongoing mission of bringing God's Kingdom into a dark world.

Their heart and desire at The Warrior's Path is to be on the front lines of ministry, especially as pertains to the issues of Spiritual Warfare - both in the area of teaching others more about it, and in the actual warring for others in need of effective spiritual protection or freedom.  Because these are their desires, and because they also desire to emulate the spirit of the knight-errant, they are eager and willing to travel for speaking events wherever there is a need, in order to "stand in the gap" and fight side-by-side with those who need help the most.

Because the very heart of life along The Warrior's Path demands a complete paradigm shift from the worldview that is being presented by the culture around us, one of the best ways to experience the teachings of The Warrior's Path is to step back from "normal" life and enter into an intensive retreat setting.  However, a Warrior's Path retreat is not like any other "churchy" retreat that you have ever been on. Fathering Adventures

 

Based in Australia, Fathering Adventures, founded by Darren Lewis back in July 2008, is an adventure-based initiative devoted to turning the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers.  Their vision is to to provide an enjoyable, exciting, adventure-filled environment for a father to succeed, be inspired, equipped, and empowered, to really connect, or perhaps reconnect with their child. A life-giving, life-changing experience that promises to provide moments that will create powerful memories to last a lifetime, and opportunities to fill a photo album.

A summary of the adventure packagess offered through Fathering Adventures are:

2-Night Father-Son Adventures:
For boys aged between 7 and 13 years, and their Dad, or significant male other.  This is a significant, affordable opportunity to answer a boy’s core question… “Do you love me? Do you delight in me? Am I your beloved son? Am I the apple of your eye?”

They provide a safe environment on stunning Magnetic Island, with a well-balanced combination of group activities, and intentional one-on-one time to better explore your relationship, and all that Magnetic Island has to offer. Remember, a child spells LOVE "T-I-M-E".

Throughout the weekend, Dads will also receive some basic coaching on what it means to be an “intentional” Dad. You will be armed with all of the tools you need to ensure your son knows that he is your “beloved son”.

5-Night Father-Son Adventures:
For boys, young men, and mature-age men aged between 13 and 70 years, and their Dad, or significant male other.

In the contrast of both reef and rainforest, a typical day features an exceptional full-day, professionally-guided outdoor adventure/activity e.g. white-water rafting down the Tully River, snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, dual sea kayaking between Mission Beach and Dunk Island, and hiking to the summit of Mount Tyson.

Rest assured men, the outdoor adventures / activities selected cater for all fitness levels. A typical evening features a multimedia presentation and small group interaction on topics such as “Authentic Manhood versus Conventional Manhood”, and “The Four Marks of a Real Man”, followed by time relaxing around the fire sharing stories of the day’s adventures.

New Wilderness Adventures

New Wilderness Adventures is a growing ministry committed to a God sized mission.  They are adventurers, guides, and followers of Christ in a shared mission.  They are not men's ministry programmers or fillers for Sunday morning brotherhood breakfast; however, they welcome every opportunity to share God's message of freedom and life.

Adventures of the Heart and Feminine Hearts Alive

  

 

Adventures of the Heart is about helping men learn to live from their hearts so they can live from their God given desires and passions, discover the unique call of Christ on their lives, and engage in God’s great battle of reaching people with the message of grace and forgiveness found in Jesus Christ.

This mission is vital because men in our culture, including Christian men, have distanced themselves from their hearts and lost touch with their souls, their passions, their call from God, and the incredible adventure God offers. As a result, men often find themselves living out of duty, "have-to’s" and "ought and shoulds" which leads to them feeling bored, tired, and burned out on church and the spiritual dimension of their lives. Learning to live from the heart involves men understanding their true identities in Jesus Christ, receiving God’s lavish love for them in Christ, and embracing their God-given longing for real adventure in their lives. It’s about discovering that life is a journey and a battle and that God invites men to ally with Him in His larger adventure of setting people free in His son Jesus Christ.

As a man learns to live from his heart then he begins to live as God intended. They want to help men answer this question: "Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive."  They believe that Jesus Christ came with that very purpose in view—to heal our hearts and set us free. (Luke 4:15-21)

Alongside Adventures of the Heart is the ministry Feminine Hearts Alive.  It is their desire to bring to every woman the message of how God sees here for her heart so that she can experience knowing Him in a real way.  When a woman is in touch with her heart, she is able to become the woman God made her to be and experience the life she was made for - her real life.

This is the life God intended for every woman, and yet where can she find it in the midst of all of the demands on her, the voices of so many and their expectations, and the sheer pace of life?  It can be confusing and even frustrating to become that woman who is full alive and who experiences the real life that God offers.  All too often, this leads to becoming disconnected from her heart and God, eventually losing heart altogether.

They understand that dilemma and that is why they have created the Encounter as a time and a place where you can pull away, let down, and give attention to that most important thing about you - your heart.
