Fathering Adventures
Based in Australia, Fathering Adventures, founded by Darren Lewis back in July 2008, is an adventure-based initiative devoted to turning the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Their vision is to to provide an enjoyable, exciting, adventure-filled environment for a father to succeed, be inspired, equipped, and empowered, to really connect, or perhaps reconnect with their child. A life-giving, life-changing experience that promises to provide moments that will create powerful memories to last a lifetime, and opportunities to fill a photo album.
A summary of the adventure packagess offered through Fathering Adventures are:
2-Night Father-Son Adventures:
For boys aged between 7 and 13 years, and their Dad, or significant male other. This is a significant, affordable opportunity to answer a boy’s core question… “Do you love me? Do you delight in me? Am I your beloved son? Am I the apple of your eye?”
They provide a safe environment on stunning Magnetic Island, with a well-balanced combination of group activities, and intentional one-on-one time to better explore your relationship, and all that Magnetic Island has to offer. Remember, a child spells LOVE "T-I-M-E".
Throughout the weekend, Dads will also receive some basic coaching on what it means to be an “intentional” Dad. You will be armed with all of the tools you need to ensure your son knows that he is your “beloved son”.
5-Night Father-Son Adventures:
For boys, young men, and mature-age men aged between 13 and 70 years, and their Dad, or significant male other.
In the contrast of both reef and rainforest, a typical day features an exceptional full-day, professionally-guided outdoor adventure/activity e.g. white-water rafting down the Tully River, snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, dual sea kayaking between Mission Beach and Dunk Island, and hiking to the summit of Mount Tyson.
Rest assured men, the outdoor adventures / activities selected cater for all fitness levels. A typical evening features a multimedia presentation and small group interaction on topics such as “Authentic Manhood versus Conventional Manhood”, and “The Four Marks of a Real Man”, followed by time relaxing around the fire sharing stories of the day’s adventures.

What a priveledge to have been able to attend the 5 night adventure with Darren and other father/son groups! This experience has really opened my eyes to the importance of the relationships between a father and his children. This year I will be taking both my son and daughter away on the 2 night adventures and can't wait to build further into our relationships. Keep up the good work Darren and Family.

Fathering adventure 2010 was a highlight for my 8yo son and I. We spent some special one on one time sharing our thoughts and hearts and just hanging out together. Thanks Darren for a great weekend, looking forward to future trips away with my boys and fathering adventures.

I recently was able to attend a Father Son adventure with Darren and his family. We had a great time. It was a real chance to spend some one on one time with one of my 4 kids. Now my other kids all want to go on one. Darren has a real heart for fathers and and their relationship with their kids. He instils in you a desire to be better for your kids sake (and yours too). Highly recommended!!!

I attended the 5 night adventure with my 21 year old Son in 2010. What an adventure! I’m convinced; I had more fun than my son did! Whilst white water rafting in a category 4 river, snorkelling at one of the 7 wonders of the underwater world, kayaking and climbing challenges kept us busy during the days, the nights were occupied with small group discussions on embracing ‘Real’ and ‘Authentic’ manhood. 11 committed Dads with hearts to embrace their sons in relationships for life made this an unforgettable and memorable week. Highly recommended.

This 5 night adventure allows fathers a very special time to be one-on-one with thier sons/daughters away from our 'busy' livestyles. Becides the extremely fun day time adventures, the nightly presentations and discussions with other Fathers/Sons gave me a greater insight into being a much better father. Darren has been gifted with a great heart for fathering which is extended to all those who attend; plus a paradise at Tully & Mission Beach to undertake these exciting adventures. This has been a huge investment into my relationship with my son Dan as I continue to practice the "Four Marks of a Real Man".

I had the pleasure of attending the first of the 5 night adventures with my then 13 year old son. I am not a custodial parent but i spend as much time as possible with my boys as i can. I found the few days spent with Darren and the other father/son pairs, really opened up the lines of conversation with my son in a way that i previously struggled with, and the whole experience was so positive in our relationship. It has grown from there, as he is transitioning from boy to young man,
I urge any father to take the opportunity to attend one of these adventures, you wont regret it.

Josh and I attended a 5 night adventure with Fathering Adventures in 2009. It was such a special time to connect as father and son. I learnt so much about my son and had the oportunity to open my heart to him. Times of fellowship around the camp fire with other blokes and their sons was very rich. As was the rite of passage ceremony. The adventures were fun, tough and exhilarating. This time and money invested has paid divedends in our relationship. I have been blessed with 4 sons, so we will be attending every second year till 2016! Darren too is an awesome man, with a deep rich love for men, God and relationships. This time spend was pure gold.

I have four boys. I took my oldest son on a two day adventure in 2009 and my next boy last year. They both loved it. Fathering Adventures
provides a wonderful opportunity for fathers to honour and love their sons in a community of men. This has proven to be incredibly impacting for them both. My third son is getting very excited about his turn in May. ...my last boy has to wait until next year.

What can I say, I went on this with my dad in 2009, and it may well have been one of the best times in my life! The bonding the young boys made together was incredible and we all got to know eachother so well. We spent heaps of time with our Dad's and I, for one, got to know my Dad so much better! The activities brought out the inner Man in all of us, White Water Rafting, Kayaking, Hiking and many more! Such a blessed time run by an equally blessed man, Darren! I could not recommend this any more! Live off rashions for a year if you have to, because the bread of life you will both recieve if you go on this camp would be worth a year of fasting! Depend on it, if you pray about it God will scream it at you, GO ON THIS CAMP!

The whole experience was something I never imagined I would have with my 13yr old son. My expectations were nothing like the way we felt at the end of our adventure, they were so much more. The processes that Darren adopted to allow me to open up to Dom and him to me was something we will treasure and never forget. I am now planning my Father Daughter adventure later this year and looking forward to spending the same special moments I had with my son. I highly encourage other fathers to experience what I did, you will never regret.

My 11 yo son and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend when Darren piloted a Brisbane/Gold Coast venue. Darren is a skilled communicator and has passion and a deep commitment to fathering. It was brilliant and while the kayaking and joint activities set the tone having "intentional" time together to bond and affirm was awesome. My son kept on saying that this was the best time he had ever had.....if you ever get the chance do it!

I am so impressed with Fatherg Adventures. I took my youngest son (10) on a two night advebture and we had the time of lives. The greatest time of connectedness with him that I have ever had. It was so rich and so much fun. I learned so much about fatherhood aswell - I hadn't expected this. I believe that I will be a better father, a better husband and a better man because of the input of Fathering Adventures and Darren Lewis. In July I'm going back for a 5 night adventure with my oldest son and I can't wait. If youre thinking of going, do yourself a favour - GO!

What a great time and great opportunity to experience something different and challenging. Darrens presentations made me reconsider what it means to be a father and grandfather. It was held in beautiful surroundings, professionally done and was a great blessing to all who attended.

Fathering Adventures concept has inspired me lot. I taken my kids for one day camp of white water rafting in kolad. Both of them were so excited and we really had fun. Those memories are just unforgettable for me. Now this summer I have planned one more camping along with my friend and his kids. I hope it will be all fun.
